Quick answer: All checkout fees are paid by the gifter, never the creator. A service fee is included in the item subtotal, and a payment processing fee is added at checkout. Everything is shown before you confirm.
Service fees
A service fee is included in the item subtotal you see on a creator's wishlist, on top of the item's price:

For crowdfunded items, the fee is charged once on the goal, not on each contribution. A $100 goal shows as $109.75.

Do creators pay anything?
Not at checkout, no. Creators do pay a small fee in a few specific situations:
Instant Payouts: $1.99 for balances under $100, or 1.9% for balances $100 and over (if it was not fan-funded).
A $2 fee on withdrawals under $30 (refunded if the withdrawal fails or is returned).
Cancelling a crowdfund before it's fully funded: the one-time 9.75% service fee is deducted from the funds before they move to your Balance.
Are fees refunded if an order is refunded?
Yes. When a fan is refunded, they get back the entire amount they paid, including the item price, tax, shipping, and fees. Partner Store items have 0% service fees to begin with, so refunds on those include the listed price, shipping, and taxes.
